Several people online have asked me how to do this lately, so I thought I'd just make a quick tutorial to streamline my explanation.
Burning DVDs from YouTube and Google Video source files a great way to save all those favorite online clips to be enjoyed and shared while offline. There many excellent documentaries, speeches, and programs available for free on YouTube and Google Video that might be difficult and/or expensive to obtain in DVD format otherwise. Creating DVDs from YouTube and Google Video clips is a good way to spread information to others who lack the luxury of a good broadband connection or a computer.
Here's what you will need, assuming you have a working DVD burner (all downloads are free):
1: Mozilla's Firefox Browser: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/
2: One of the following Firefox add-ons:
a: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2390 (This add-on is recommended since it works with more websites than just YouTube and Google.)
b: http://www.joshkinberg.com/blog/archives/2005/11/greased_google.php (Follow the instructions on this page completely if you choose this add-on.)
3: DVD Flick http://www.dvdflick.net/download.php
After installing Firefox and the chosen plugin completely, go to one of the supported video sites such as YouTube or Google Video and choose a clip you want to download. If you have correctly installed the Firefox plugin, you should now see a link on the page to download the source .flv file.
For example, if you installed the greasemonkey plugin and you are on YouTube, the link should be at the very top of the page and will say "Save As to download Flash video" in red; on Google Video, a blue link will appear on the right hand side of the page saying "Find Flash Video".
Click the appropriate link to download the source flash file (.flv) to your desktop.
The file may not have a file extension when download is complete, so it will need to be renamed with a ".flv" extension. To do this, *right click* on the file, click "rename" and type a filename of your choosing followed by ".flv". Now the file is ready for use to be played or burned to DVD.
Note: For playback of Flash Video files, I suggest VLC Media Player (also called "VideoLAN"). http://www.videolan.org/ This is the most useful cross-platform video player out there. Beside Flash video files, it literally plays everything from DVDs to .avi, mpeg, .wav, .mp3, .mp4, and even .mov files, which makes it the perfect Swiss Army Knife for your multimedia arsenal.
To burn to DVD, open DVD Flick and add the file you just downloaded to the DVD project. You can burn more than one clip to a DVD. The bar on the left hand side of DVD Flick window will tell you how full the final DVD will be. There are several other options that DVD Flick will allow, such as adding chapters, and I suggest using the help button to explore these options more in depth.
That's all there is to it.

I've yet to get a .flv to play with sound in VLC.
Couple things. This is hardly friendly to MAC/Linux/anything apart from corporate whore Windows users.
Also, why the fuck would you bother? Sound and image quality (especially on Google Video) is fucking woeful.
Don't bother.
Oh, for MAC users, iSquint is an excellent .flv converter, free too!

I might even try this... with my SNAZZY NEW COMPUTER.
Turns out it is reasonably better than the one I described last week. It's not a Dell, for a start. It's a 3.2 not 2.4 processor, dual core not single, still 1GB of RAM but it's DDR2(something). And the hard drive is 160GB not 40.
But the main thing is it has USB PORTS ON THE FRONT, and the keyboard IS NOT STAINED WITH SALSA.
----------
My PC is water cooled.
I've never god the video downloader plugin to work.

Also, if you insist on not using Firefox with the plugins I mentioned, you can use the following site to download the video: http://www.videodl.org/
It will allow you to simply copy and paste a URL and find the source .flv file.
