One fucking inch of snow and the country shuts down.
I drove to work at 8am, before the roads were clear of snow and ice, to be told the schools ACROSS BIRMINGHAM were closed.
There wasn't even a full layer of snow cover over the grass.

The same thing used to happen in Houston when we'd have 1/2 inch of snow. They'd close public schools for the day. I always figured closing school was as much about giving the kids a chance to look at the snow as anything else. It only happened about once every 8 years and was always gone by noon.

DC becomes a schoolgirl with a skinned knee when there's even TALK of 1" of snow.
We're supposed to get snow tonight, into tomorrow, with an expected grand total of 2". Schools will probably open late or close, and the roads will go to shit tomorrow because everyone has a tardgasm behind the wheel when it's white out.
