I sit in pain listening and all I hear is blah...blah...blah...noise. It's all just noise. None of it interests me but it should. I do not understand what most of the acronyms mean but I should. I have such back pain that all I can think about is the bottle of muscles relaters and Oxycontin inside my purse in the trunk of my car. The ironic part is I didn't want to take any of my medication for fear of falling asleep during such a critically important quarterly meeting with all of my colleagues. However listening to 'Mr. Big' talk figures and quarter market reductions, Kaizen Principles and Lean Value I am nodding out and NOT because I have become comfortably numb. I am uncomfortably board.

Now, I might not be able to tell you what our Lean Quantity calculation numbers should be but I can tell you that after my calculations this meeting room has six lighting fixtures, four ceiling fans, two long oak tables each with eight chairs, twenty additional chairs around the perimeter of the room, one PC, one overhead projector and pull down screen, three white boards covered in multi-colored business jargon and seventeen people who are clearly ADD free.

True that.

This guy that works with me is hilarious. He has this sign that is taped to the wall

"A lack of planning on your part, doesn't constitute an emergency on mine."

I laugh my ass off every time I read it.

I think my favorite one of all of them was "Be Here Now." It was about improving productivity in meetings and other interpersonal interactive work situations. There was a 3-day class and everything. After the training I set my computer screensaver to scroll "Be Nowhere... Be Now Here... Be Here Now... Be 'Ere Now... Beer Now... ". Man, do I ever not miss that stuff.

I do not miss those types of meetings at all. Don't forget to Promote an Atmosphere of Continuous Improvement!
========================
We have KaiZen now but it started many years ago and at risk of revealing my age, back then it was "Quality Circles" fresh out of Japan. That evolved into HPM or high powered manufacturing. A component of HPM was CITT as skrap points out above... slightly refined into Continuous Improvement -- Through Teamwork.

All of the above is of course utter bullshit, created and sustained by guru managers for the single and sole reason of diverting you, the honest hard working employee from thinking about or examining your (pitiful) wage. And don't you DARE bring that topic (money) up -- even during your job appraisal. Hey Snark, you got a bullet left in that chamber?

When it's all said and done, it comes down to the following: It's not what you know it's who you know... modified/refined into: It's not who you know, it's WHO YOU BLOW!
Hey Tiger, any of that help? Good luck in finding something to ease the pain.

---------------------------

It is all total and utter fucking bullshit and so is the length of time I've been on hold waiting to speak to someone from my mortgage company. It's been 45 mins of the same stupid ass music and then .... 'please wait for the next available agent'....over and over and over and over.....

You know, i hear all about how this person or that got injured or had surgery and became addicted to Oxy and then they ran out and started buying bundles of dope on the street. now i've never done heroine so i don't know what that is all about but taking Oxy for pain really doesn't do shit for me so i'm going to have to say that for a person to become an addict they either have to take far more than they need to begin with or they just want to be an addict and will find any way to get high. but again, no body is the same and we all react to shit differently.
---------

well supposedly people are predisposed to that shit. pure heroin will probably be a lot more effective than oxycontin.

"An overdose of acetaminophen can cause serious harm to your liver. The maximum amount of acetaminophen for adults is 1 gram (1000 mg) per dose and 4 grams (4000 mg) per day. One acetaminophen and oxycodone tablet may contain up to 650 mg of acetaminophen. Know the amount of acetaminophen in the specific product you are taking."

there was a girl in my grade school who once threw up all over my desk and homework, and then later that year tried to kill herself with a bottle of excedrin. we all laughed at her when she came back to class.

later, in high school, she made a more honest effort with her dad's handgun.

You can also OD and die on water. Everything is toxic if you have too much of it.
---------------

she showed fine problem solving skills there. i get that everything's toxic if you take too much of it but this is just stupid. the fda requires acetaminophen stuck with opioids to "prevent addiction" and because of the amounts and shit people have a better chance of ODing on the tylenol and not the smack. pretty gay if you ask me.

Well I've been under anesthesia before and it is silly stuff.

I went on this ride the other day at the hospital called an Magnetic Resonance Imaging ride. In fact i've been on a few of these rides. this time the ride featured the music of john denver or so the technician told me. in any case, there is this strict policy and you cant wear or have certain types of metals in or on you. in fact i couldnt even wear my earings into the room, or my leg. that was an interesting ride in and of itself.

i tore a tendoon (kind of like a tendon but longer) in my shoulder when i was a swimmer in college and i took tylenol every day before practice. one day, i took so much that colors inside my goggles faded, i went to the bathroom, and passed out in the showers.

then i stopped taking so fucking much and i was fine.

acetaminophen does nothing that naproxen and ibuprofen don't do besides kill you when you drink
---------

people that take long term pain medications are exposed to much higher levels and more risk of addiction. people that get 10 vicodin for an ankle sprain aren't the ones the fda is trying to "protect". pain management and a single use injury prescription are different. you can OD and die on tylenol. i recommend you try it in case you don't believe me.

dont listen to these naysayers.

If a person is taking a pain medication because they cannot function without it, then there is no addiction. They need it because they cannot live everyday life without it, they dont want to have to take it, but they need to take it. An addict wants to use whether they need to or not, THAT is addiction. The sad part is that people who need them arent getting them because doctors have been guilted into restricting how many pain meds they prescribe because of the "addiction stigma" thats been attached to prescription opiates.

Tylenol does more damage to your liver than anything else.

rant over.

thanks for that tad bit of information but i have degenerative disc disease at my L5 S1 and quite frankly no pain medication works. The only thing that works half the time is sleep when i can get there which is where the meds help me out. They don't get rid of the pain, they help me sleep. For some reason Ambian doesn't.

acetaminophen does nothing that naproxen and ibuprofen don't do besides kill you when you drink
---------

people that take long term pain medications are exposed to much higher levels and more risk of addiction. people that get 10 vicodin for an ankle sprain aren't the ones the fda is trying to "protect". pain management and a single use injury prescription are different. you can OD and die on tylenol. i recommend you try it in case you don't believe me.

thanks for that tad bit of information but i have degenerative disc disease at my L5 S1 and quite frankly no pain medication works. The only thing that works half the time is sleep when i can get there which is where the meds help me out. They don't get rid of the pain, they help me sleep. For some reason Ambian doesn't.

i heard the fda is thinking of banning many pain killers because of the acetaminophen in them. the toxicity of tylenol and the frequency of accidental overdose is apparently greater than the actual opiate it's paired with. for some reason combining it with something that causes acute and possible fatal liver damage was equated to preventing addiction.

the fda are stupid.
