A search of serial killer Karl Stallings' house turned up many things. It took the detectives a few days to sort it all out. These remaining pieces were found scattered helter skelter around his home. Some shoved in between the pages of books. Some found under couches and chairs. Some in the magazines that were on the bathroom floor. These, in addition to a main diary that went undiscovered during the initial search make up the remaining legacy of a man to which normalcy was a roller coaster ride in hell.
This was found buried in between the pages of an old copy of the Syracuse Post Standard lying on the bottom shelf in a kitchen cupboard. Directly adjacent was a full box of Wheaties and a jar full of eyeballs.
************************************************************************************************
God I can't think straight tonight. They're all over the place and I just don't know what to do. Floating.....spiraling.....screaming.
They have teeth. Big, sharp teeth. Gnawing, gnawing, gnawing all the time. It sounds like locust thunder tearing through me, eating me to the heart; to the soul. STOP IT! I can see them coming at me and I duck as they miss me by a fraction of an inch. I wish they would go away.
I'LL KILL YOU ALL!
And I sit and consider it all. Through the cacophony I can hear an underlying din of sadness, restlessness, abandonment. They really do think. It's not just a movie playing over and over but a reality being created anew in a time that's already passed. Can it be just that? Is it possible for them to act on this reality?
I open my eyes and they are gone. The sound continues, the tightness in my chest is real, but the kitchen looks the same. Table...chairs...the bright glint of the light reflecting off of the toaster, the drawn curtains mocking me with their cheap dime store striped pattern. I am afraid to close my eyes again but my head swirls and the room spins and my rate of breathing continues to increase and I must. I must deal with my skeletons. And so I close them again and immerse myself in loathing and doubt.
I'LL KILL YOU ALL! I say again at the top of my imagined lungs. They can only hear my voice in as much as I can see them. If I speak the words they ignore, but if I SCREAM the words in my head they react. They mock. They laugh. If I think it louder they laugh even harder.
Shall I profess my love for each and every one of them? If I do they may surely take me away and keep me as a trophy much in the same way I did them, or at least parts of them. Those parts so much a part of me now, a part of my life. I can look past them to see their shoes piled up in a room of my house. I can look past them to see all their fingernails, platters full as if I had a party the night before and fingernails were on the menu. Their skin. So much skin. Delicious. I love the feel of their skin. As they swarm me once more, it seems they know what I am thinking. It seems they want it back.
I'LL KILL MYSELF! I think, screaming it in my mind, exploding it out towards them.
They stop and hover, giving my brain a little thinking room.
They all smile.
"We'll see," they reply in whispered unison.
We'll wait and see."

I thought you were on pH
PH folded way back when. I never went back when it came back. Don't like the format. Like the writers though.

I'm WAY too happy to see this. I had a nightmare about one of these stories. Only the 2nd time an Uber writer managed it. I will happily read as many of these as Karl provokes you to write.

the opening seems too much like the guy's thoughts, like they would be in a different style, but pretty cool.

This is actually the first of these that I've ever read. I can actually remember when you started these what seems like so long ago.
I actually liked it, so maybe I should go back and read the others.
It was a good length as it kept my attention and didn't go on too long. I actually enjoyed not knowing what exactly was goign on and having to piece it together.
I'm not exactly sure how you've been doing these (as this is the first one that i've read), but I'm curious to know. Are they set in any kind of chronological order? As the pages of the diary seem to be scattered around the rooms of his house, is each entry seemingly random and misplaced and thus it doesn't really matter what order you read them?
Even if that's not the case I might just read them liek that anyway. It's interesting.
Good to see something worthwhile on the front page.
The originals were set in order as they appeared in the actual book diary. It was just the way that Karl wrote them. There are more of these that were found scattered around his house. They were originally thrown into evidence and not discovered until someone actually decided to go through each item individually. They are a compilation of random thoughts he put down from time to time before, during, and after he did his "work". Many were found in various hiding places such as in the margins of pages of books he had been reading at the time or notated on bits of paper or napkins or such and placed in containers or magazines or different places in his house. These are little snippets of his life and actions. He was always into the documentation part of it.

Took me awhile to get off that list too once I stopped posting. Life has a way of rearranging your priorities. Karl's has been knocking on my door again lately. Evidently he isn't through with me yet.

Well, it could all be totally different then, too tired to bugger with the rest right now.
Can't say as I blame you. This is a continuation of a long past series. There are too many to read at once. Thanks for reading though.

I'll encourage you to read the others first. Just in case you would like some insight. If not, that's ok too. Feedback is appreciated as usual.
