This is for all the Navy or just general military personell out there. (yeah even you drink)
I graduated from college about 2 months ago and have an ass load of student loans and I've been thinking about joining the Navy as an officer to help pay them, Personally I've always liked the idea of being in the military but I've read some of the horror stories on Uber about being in the Navy especially. Any words of wisdom on this? Is being an officer as bad as being enlisted? Are there any officers on uber?

If you want to travel the navy's the best. If you want better duty in the same place try air force
If you want to have fun wear a uniform and not be in the military try the Coast Guard.

Depends what you want to do.........if it was me...I'd go in as a Flight officer and try to get the P3C Orion platform.....Buttloads of "A" time and the detachments are out of this world...Buttom line......TOP GUN was a great movie.....see that? M O V I E....Jets are cool at airshows.......but they never show you the 8 months that you'll be stuck on a carrier in the Med. Sidenote: P3C's are being replaced with 737's....which is gonna be kick ass for flying...fire me an email and I'll fill you in on the navy side of the house......My whole family is/was navy

Uh, actually, to become an officer you need a degree, or prior service to become an LDO or Warrant officer.
As a prior enlisted Navy guy, I can't say for sure that officers have it better, but from my observations....yeah, they do. Personally, I'd join the Air Force. I've heard great stuff about their enlisted peoples programs, so I'd imagine that it only gets better for the officers.
FYI, all the servicew will pay back your student loans. It's a DOD policy, not service specific.

navy isn't that bad, the chance of being killed is very slim compared to Army or Marines, and there duties aren't very dangerous as far as military work goes.
officers get it better but it's harder to become an officer, for many you need a university degree.
