So, yeah... I've been missing for a while...
I was contacted about doing some freelance work, and it took me a bit of time to get together a presentable portfolio. A selected group of my short story as well as proposals for eight different longer, eh... things. (I'm not even still sure what I have in mind for some of these concepts.) Anyhow, a number of these things came with detailed illustrations, even though I don't consider myself a visual artist anymore. I figured it wouldn't hurt having them along to better clarify my points on my ideas as a writer.
I had to drive from Kent, Ohio (near Cleveland) to Youngstown, Ohio for this meeting. Not far, only about an hour. I was incredibly nervous-excited. This was a fledgling company looking for writers and artists to... well, I wasn't entirely sure. But the sales pitch was really good! So I got my shit together, dressed real well, and made my way to a city via Map Quest to meet at a Perkins for my initial interview.
The mastermind behind all this is a guy named "John," a 34 year old Desert War veteran, a former manager of such pop culture stores such as Hot Topics and Pac Sun. He's always had a dream of starting his own company that produced various forms of "Geek Entertainment." Everything from comics to games, novels to music. He's got the business background and was looking for a core group to help get him started.
He started looking at my work and seemed impressed. Then he got his sights on my art work. *sigh* He really liked it. He wanted to know if I was interested in doing some artwork for him. "Not Really." We talked for a while and came to a conclusion. I would work as his graphics manager and also do some writing development as well. This worked for me.
As it stands now, I'm working with a team developing a an RPG (Role Playing Game) that is loosely a Military versus Zombies type thing. I'm in charge of the Zombies. This is especially funny, since I hate RPG's. It's a tile-based, table top type thing, so I still don't completely understand it, but so far my job has been do just come up with a bunch of the Undead. Fun!!!
So that's why I haven't been around. When I get the chance, I promise to get back to writing some more bloody, twisted stuff. John's already talked to Diamond Distributors about getting our product out there, so hopefully you'll see it soon.
Oh, and here's one of the pictures he went stupid over. It looks a little weird after I shurnk it down to fit. I put it on pH first and it was fuckin' huge...

Pretty good...the boobs look a little "fake" considering her primitive garb. Maybe if they were spaced out a bit and/or not quite so perfectly spherical. By the by, I'll be machine-gun +2ing your metaphysical demigod series because they made my plane ride a lot shorter.

I have been an RPG guy for a long time.. and if he can get some good George Romero style stuff going on, I think it could take off.
Otherwise it'll be a knockoff of "Spacehulk" sort of games. Look out.
